Climate change mitigation and competitiveness are the two main challenges for the – not only – European Chemical Industry. More than 90% of the carbon embedded in chemicals and plastics originates from fossil carbon from the ground, which needs to be replaced by biogenic, captured and recycled carbon. Defossilisation of the chemical industry is the key. However, this transformation process must also maintain or regain competitiveness. How can this work? What are the political and industry strategies to achieve this?

We have invited leading high-level experts from industry, science and policy to discuss these topics at the conference.
