Defossilisation of the Chemical Industry “Renewable Materials Conference 2025

"Renewable Materials Conference 2025", 22 - 24 September (Siegburg, Germany)

The Renewable Materials Conference 2025 is the world's leading event on the Renewable Carbon Economy.

++ Already 150 participants from 16 countries registered, > 500 expected ++ final program ++ exhibition ++ workshop booking ++

The next big thing in climate change mitigation. More than 90% of the carbon embedded in chemicals and plastics is fossil carbon from the ground, which needs to be replaced by biogenic, captured and recycled carbon. Defossilisation of the chemical industry is the key.

Chemical companies and start-ups will present their concepts, strategies and success stories for the future of a sustainable and competitive chemicals and plastics industry. Topics include alternative feedstocks, alternative naphtha, electric cracker and non-cracker commodity production via methanol and ethanol, biotechnology and biorefineries and more.

The Renewable Materials Conference (RMC) covers the entire value chain from alternative carbon feedstocks, the chemical industry, the materials sector, product manufacturers to brand owners, as well as investors and policy makers. The last conference in June 2024 attracted nearly 500 participants from 32 countries, 90 % of them from the industrial sector. This year more than 500 participants are expected to attend 75 presentations, 20 panel discussions and up to 12 workshops.

14 presentations on defossilisation at the Renewable Materials Conference (RMC), 22-24 September 2025 in Siegburg/Cologne (Germany).

Please find below all presentations of the ‘Defossilisation of the Chemical Industry’ session on the first day of the conference (22 September), and the panellists for the high level panel discussion on ‘The Future of the Chemical industry in Europe: Defossilised and competitive – how can this work?’ at the end of the day.
