The Renewable Materials Conference (RMC) will once again be the outstanding international meeting place for innovators, companies and brands, investors and policymakers to come together to develop and shape the future renewable carbon economy. As in previous years, the conference organiser nova-Institute expects 400-500 participants from around the world. The RMC is the leading global event of the renewable carbon economy, showcasing the latest progress in and prospects of bioeconomy, CCU and recycling for the defossilisation of chemicals and materials. Accordingly, this year’s focus topic is “Defossilisation through innovation”.

Conference Topics in Detail – Biodegradation Day (24 September)

The third conference day (24 September) of the Renewable Materials Conference 2026 has developed into an international meeting point for experts in biodegradation, bringing together an ever-growing number of leading specialists in the field each year. This year, the session will cover three key topics. Under Science & Policy Progress, the focus will be on biodegradability in EU legislation, along with key aspects of disposal and polymer biodegradation, complemented by insights into the role of digital tools.

The Applications sub-session will highlight practical and effective uses of biodegradable materials, particularly in preventing the release of microplastics. Finally, System Solutions will address broader environmental and industrial challenges, including the use of biodegradable materials in agriculture as well as hygiene products to avoid persistent microplastics. A collaborative innovation cluster for bio-based materials will also be presented.

If you are active in the area of biodegradation or would like to stay up to date with the latest developments in science, policy and industry, this is an event not to be missed.

Speakers of the 3rd Day (24 September)
